CAGBALETE ISLAND - Mauban, Quezon
Cagbalete Island is accessible from
Mauban port via a 45-minute boat ride either by a public or a private boat. There are two daily trips for the public
transport, one at 10am and the other 4pm. The private transport however is available anytime of
the day. The advantage of the latter is
that you can disembark at your preferred resort while for the former you have
to trek from the sabang to your
preferred resort.
Cagbalete is known for its crystal
clear water and its “kilometer” wide shore line during low tide. This event commonly happens twice a day. So for swimming-bums, it is highly advised to coordinate
with the locals or the resort owner the high and low tide cycles to properly
plan the timing of your visit.
The facilities of the island is somehow median -- no crowded set-up of Boracay and Puerto Galera but not undeveloped or underdeveloped in the likes of Anawangin Cove and Potipot Island. Resorts accommodate campers but with an entrance and camping fee for access to common/shared facilities. The island is rich of sea foods like crabs, octopus, squid, fish, etc... just inquire with your resort if you like some.

The estuary and the mangrove areas are located close to MVT Sto. Nino Resort while the Bonsai Island which is accessible by foot at low tide is fronting Villa Cleofas. You can arrange for a chartered boat if you want to tour around the island and the nearby Lighthouse or Baliscar Island, or snorkeling or deep sea diving.
