A SHORT DIPOLOG CITY TOUR
We arrived at Dipolog with a
crumbling belly so our first target was to look for a decent meal. Just outside the airport building, Bael
Canteen drifted our stride and to hubby’s delight, a sautéed prawn meal was a
great Zamboanga welcome.
We so much wanted to hike the 3,003 steps to Linabo Peak but with time against us, we just strolled around the city. First off was the New Provincial Capitol but it was closed for construction. Then we proceeded to the City Hall and the nearby landmarks – Magsasay Park and the Three Prominent Pioneers’ Statue.
Next stop was the Our Lady of
the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral and according to the locals, the façade was
already renovated and replaced with marble covering but the side stone walls is
a testament of the original structure.
At the Cathedral, the “Memorial of the Unborn Statue” and the “No to Mining” appeal caught more my attention. I know so little about Dipolog that this sightings has awaken my curiosity about the town.
Before we headed to Dapitan
Terminal, we passed by the boulevard.
The Sulu Sea breeze and the playful waves are perfect goodbyes to our short
Dipolog tour.
