BUNTOT PALOS WATERFALLS DAYHIKE

BUNTOT PALOS (HIDDEN) FALLS
Pangil, Laguna

This trip was another last-minute spur of the moment adventure for some fresh air and be briefly away from the stresses of the metro… well, regardless of the reasons, alibis and excuses, here we go, just three us, for a dayhike trip to Buntot Palos waterfalls.

The jump-off of Buntot Palos Waterfalls in Pangil, Laguna was nearly 3-hour drive from the metro.  It was already 10:30am when we left the registration area.  Registration fee was at P30 per head while the dayhike guide fee was P300. According to our guide, the average trek to the waterfalls is about 2-1/2 hours and 2 hours more for the return trek.  With a bottle of water each, we pushed through yearning to be back by 1:30pm for a late lunch.

The trek commenced through an uphill concrete road of nearly a kilometre then followed by a rocky trail with water streaming along.  There are portions of wide open path and muddy trail until the gradual trail as it nears the campsite.

What kept me busy though was my macro-shooting of the flora along the trail.

Our guide accompanied us first to Buntot Palos crest and like any waterfalls the crest line was so tranquil and tamed.  The portion however just before the drop signifies how wild and strong the waterfalls can be.

before the drop

Time check then was 12:20pm and from the crest line, it took us another 20 minutes to reach the waterfalls base.  It was so grand with water at its fullest.  In as much as we wanted to plunge and enjoy the chilly water, our grumbling tummies and being unprepared (no extra clothes, not even a hanky) thwarted our moment…

So with pounding trod we descended with a prayer of revisiting it one day… Until next time…

  1. Bro! That falls is really amazing but I am thinking if I can make it to that trek part. It looks stiff.

  3. The waters cascade against geometrically beautiful wall, dropping to layers of huge and hard rocks before flowing into a deep natural basin below. Thanks for sharing these all wonderful images of this waterfall. Golden Triangle Tour 6 Days
