Mt. Gulugod Baboy
We arrived at Anilao around 11:30 am after a 2-1/2 drive from Manila.  We had our lunch first at the market and did last minute shopping.  Then we proceeded to Philpan resort, jump-off of Gulugod Baboy jump-off.  At the base of the jump-off, we were told that concreting of the road was under way.  Luckily we were allowed to bring the car up which saved plenty of hours and energy trekking.  I recalled my Mt. Cristobal experience, trekking in an uphill concrete road was not a joke.

At 2:30pm we started the trek proper in a laid back pace.  The glaring sun warns us of how hot the campsite can be at that hour.  Everyone agreed to take the trek easy and just aim for the campsite before sunset.

At 5pm we slowly approached the campsite and was surprised that it was like "enclosed" in a gale.  Then we realized that where standing atop a wind tunnel between Balayan and Batangas Bay.

At 5:30pm, I left hubby attending to our camp and dinner while I went for the view of the sunset...  It was another climb blessed with a beautiful sunset and YES, I really love sunsets.  Capturing the sun at the horizon as it bid goodbye, brought pleasure I cannot explain.

Throughout the night, we experienced howling wind but thankfully all tents survived.  Amidst the gusty wind, the moon shine lit our night where we took refuge under its sight.

Our morning was welcomed with a fair weather, an indication for a good swim.  So at 8:30am we started the descent, enthused by the thought of dipping in Batangas waters.  Then at 10:30am, we're down at Philpan resort enjoying our swim.

PS:
A friendly note for soon to be Gulugod Baboy climbers, the wind at night may change at anytime, so make sure to situate and secure your tent in a "somehow" covered area.  Also bring some warmer to comfort your night.

The island hopping side trip is a bit expensive for hikers on a tight budget but you can still enjoy the waters of Batangas by taking a dip at the nearby resorts featured in Backpacking Philippines or Batangas Government websites.
