IN TRANSIT FROM BUTUAN TO BISLIG
Travel from Butuan to Bislig can
either be by bus or by van and travel time is shorter by the latter, so our
first option was to take the van. Upon
arriving at the terminal, the van was only a quarter filled and it must be full before it leaves. It was
already 1pm then and the barkers cannot commit a definite departure time. We were anxious of travelling
at night time so we transferred to a bus at Langihan Terminal.
Our bus was bound to leave for Mangagoy, Bislig at 2pm with expected arrival time at 7pm. But before we left, we were contemplating whether to stay at Hinatuan for the Enchanted River or drop it for Bislig. Well, we opted for the latter... I just told myself that there is always a next time.
It was also during this trip that I
finally understood the writings in the road marker. Thanks to hubby for sharing... The number after
the KM represents the distance from Km 0 (zero), meaning Barobo (our location) is
1,404 kilometers by land highway away from Luneta in Manila where Km 0 is. Then the letter represents the initial of the next town
while the number thereafter is the distance in Km to the said town. So in our case, it means we are 10 km before the
town of Tagbina. Whew!
At Mangagoy, we stayed at Paper Country Inn, said the most decent hotel in town according to several articles online. Well maybe but it doesn’t match my preferences... They have super soft beds but I favor the soft-firm ones and the air-conditioning needs replacement or some cleaning at least.
For our first Bislig meal, we asked the trike driver of a restaurant that serves sea foods. That was hubby’s main agenda in Bislig – “seafood madness”, “seafood freshness”. As most of the restaurants were closed already, we were brought to Titay’s Kamayan. We ordered sinigang na hipon, adobong pusit and grilled chicken. We loved the sinigang as the flavor and the ingredients used draws out more its freshness. With about 8 pieces shrimp on, the big bowl only costs P90. So Wow!
Before we signed-off
for bed, hubby arranged with the frontdesk for a habalhabal to tour us in the morning. It was set to fetch us at 5am for ample time around Bislig... <<continued here>>
